Taking credit for your opinions -- or not....

I disagree with parts of Tim O'Reilly's proposal for a blogging code of conduct, but I think it is valid otherwise. As a blogger -- one who has received some negative feedback, from both named and anonymous parties -- I see where O'Reilly's code of conduct could make sense. If someone has an opinion they want to share, there really shouldn't be any reason to withhold one's identity. If one was in any other public place, for instance, if their conviction was so strong as to verbalize their opinion, they could nonetheless be recognized even if they didn't reveal their name. As the article puts it, the proposal "calls on bloggers not to write anything online that they would not say in person."
